Mapquest iPhone app
Mapquest has just announced their turn by turn GPS app for the iPhone. The app itself is $.99 then you pay the subscription fee one of three ways:
Monthly for $3.99
Three months for $9.99
One year for $29.99
I think this is a fantastic model for GPS apps and I hope they are successful with it. This way, you only pay for the service when you need it. If you don't travel frequently you aren't paying for something you don't use. Then if you are going on a trip, pay the 4 bucks for that month's subscription and use it. Plus, this way you don't have to store all the maps on your iPhone like the TomTom app does. Of course the down side of that is, like all GPS apps that pull map data on demand, you have no maps if you don't have a data connection.
